Do I Need Experience to Become a Virtual Assistant?
Do you know what one of the most frequently asked questions is? This is whether or not the skills or previous experience is required to start as a virtual assistant. I was also asked if I had perfect virtual assistant skills before launching my VA biz. These are valid questions! I had the same thought process when I was just starting out. I figured I should share my own story to help any aspiring virtual assistants.
It is common for personal assistants (PAs) to make the transition to becoming virtual assistants. This is not the case for me. Want to know what my previous experience was? Nothing. That’s not to say I don’t have other skills. I also always thought of myself as very entrepreneurial. I also regularly kept in my mind that I wanted to start a business. You may not know that my current business is not my first test here!
When I started my business in VA, I knew I had something to do to succeed and I would give it my all. To be honest, if you already have it, you have fought half the battle. Although I do not know business owners and clients, I am determined to find them. If I do not have a particular skill, I will learn it, If I fail, I will try again. Did you know? I did and led me here.
What I did not have before was virtual assistant experience. I know I have the confidence to complete the necessary tasks and learn in my adventure, So the burning question. Do you need virtual assistant experience to start a VA business? Happy news!. because even if you have no experience it is possible! Come I will teach you.
What are Virtual Assistant Skills?
Do you know why you no longer need "virtual assistant experience"?
You have probably gained experience in these skills in other jobs or fields of your life!
There are many tasks that a VA begins to do, such as email and diary management, data entry and research. You do not need a degree in problem solving and organizing to complete these tasks. The reason a business owner takes on these tasks is not from not knowing how to do the tasks themselves but lacking time and willpower. That is where a VA can be a fantastic asset to any business owner.
My humble opinion, I think organization and problem solving skills are more important than experience as a PA.
